Gifts of Securities
Giving stocks and bonds that have increased in value (and you have owned for more than one year) can provide great tax benefits to donors. The market value of securities is deductible (subject to applicable limitations) and you also avoid paying the capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Contact the Development Office for more information or talk to your broker about making a gift of stocks or bonds.
Employer Matching Programs
You may be able to double, or even triple the amount of your gift! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs for their employees and some even offer the same matching gift opportunities to retirees and widows of employees. Every organization has its own rules and forms, so be sure to check with your company’s human resources department.
If your employer will match your gift, please request a matching gift form and send it completed and signed with your gift to the address below:
WTC Foundation
6200 College Ave
Snyder, TX 79549
Matching gifts are directed to the same designation as your original gift, unless your employer dictates otherwise. The WTC Foundation will recognize you for the total amount.
Legacy Fund
Double your gift through the Legacy Fund! This extraordinary opportunity will provide tremendous benefits for the students, college and community for years to come. Contributions to the Legacy Fund received before September 31, 2015 are matched dollar for dollar. Click here (hyperlink to Legacy Fund on Fundraising Initiatives page) for more information.
Gifts In-Kind and other Personal Property
Donations of tangible and intangible assets and property such as art, books, equipment, automobiles, inventory, limited partnership interests, royalty or copyright interests, and other physical assets are often great gifts to Western Texas College.
Gifts of Real Estate
Donated homes, land and other real estate are a great way to give to WTC with added benefits to you. Some benefits you may enjoy by donating your real estate include avoiding paying capital gains tax, receiving a significant charitable income tax deduction and leaving a lasting legacy in your community. You can also set up a Retained Life Estate where you donate your property, but still maintain the rights to live and use the property.
All gifts of real estate are reviewed for acceptance. WTC will consider gifts of both improved and unimproved real estate including, but not limited to, detached single-family residences, condominiums, apartment buildings, rental property, commercial property, farms, acreage, etc.
Planned Gifts
Planned gifts can be a significant benefit to you, your family, and Western Texas College. They are key financial tools that provide an opportunity to invest in the future of WTC and leave a lasting legacy in your community.
You can make a planned gift by listing Western Texas College in your will or designating the College as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy. Bequests, charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts can offer benefits such as income-tax breaks and help avoid capital-gains tax.
Please contact the WTC Foundation at (325) 574-7943 or foundation@wtc.edu or your financial advisor for more information.
