A Week of Fun, Fitness, and Community Hosted by Guided Pathways and Title V
Westerner Wellness Week brought together students, staff, and the community for a packed schedule of activities, all aimed at promoting wellness, connection, and fun. The staff from the Title V Grant and the Guided Pathways Center hosted the event during the third week of September.
The week kicked off on Monday in the courtyard as students gathered for the Kick-off Bash, enjoying good music and great company. First Bank & Trust and Calvary Baptist Church sponsored a delicious, free hamburger lunch. Later in the afternoon, students got a chance to unwind with a relaxing yoga session led by Brad Overcash, our local yoga guru.
Tuesday kept the momentum going with an energetic Zumba session led by Kelly Carr in the Guided Pathways Center. Campus buzzed with friendly competition as students took part in Cornhole and other games in the courtyard. HTeaO provided free refreshments in the Student Center, offering students a refreshing break.
On Wednesday, the focus shifted to community outreach and spirited competition. The We Care Community Outreach event in the Student Center provided an opportunity for students to connect with local churches and learn more about the great work being done in the area. Meanwhile, the Softball Field was the scene of a lively kickball game, followed by a cool-down session with free drinks from Soda Shack.
The week wrapped up on Thursday with a day focused on exploration. International Student Services hosted an international snack event in the Student Center, offering a taste of flavors from around the world. The festivities concluded at the Scurry County Museum with an Oculus Party, where attendees enjoyed virtual reality experiences.
Westerner Wellness Week offered a terrific blend of fitness, community, fun, and relaxation. The event’s wide variety of activities ensured there was something for everyone, making it a memorable week for students.
