Stiewert Receives Brennan Medford Memorial Scholarship
Honoring a loved one with a scholarship keeps their memory alive and can positively affect current Western Texas College students.
The family of Brennan Medford wanted his legacy to make an impact on a current student.
A 2012 graduate of the Western Texas College Electrical Lineworker program, he was proud to be a lineworker and did not take his responsibilities lightly. Medford progressed to Line Crew Foreman in just a few short years at American Electric Power (AEP). Several of his superiors told him he was on the fast track to an engineer or management position.
Sadly, the family lost Medford in August 2020 to an ATV accident.
His mother, Emily Dunnam, describes Brennan as an exceptional young man and a strong leader.
"Even from a young age, he always wanted to know how things worked and had an idea for how to make them work better and more efficiently. He had an inquisitive mind and a problem-solving attitude."
Working with the WTC Foundation, Dunnam set up a one-time scholarship to be given to a current student in the Electrical Lineworker program.
After reviewing the applicants, the family chose Woodrow Stiewert to receive the Brennan Medford Memorial Scholarship.
The Foundation awarded the Scholarship at the 2023 Lineworker Rodeo, held at the Western Texas College Lineworker Training Facility. Medford's mother, grandfather, sister, nephew, and many other family members attended.
