Recent Graduate Pays it Forward at WTC
Recent graduate Sarah Chaparro (‘22) hails from Clayton, New Mexico, but now calls Snyder home.
She chose to attend WTC because her tour of the campus made her feel welcome and at home.
“I was not interested in going to a big university right away, which is why WTC was the perfect option,” notes Chaparro.
“WTC has a friendly, helpful staff as well as a tight-knit community. These traits make a student feel confident to grow and learn. “The welding department seemed promising and definitely surpassed my expectations.”
Recently hired by the College as an embedded Welding Instructor at Snyder High School, the College has changed her goals.
“I’m excited to help continue growing the Welding program and add to the diversity of the student population.
“Jeffrey Stewart (Welding Instructor) gave me opportunities to help teach when I was a student in classes. Now I have my chance to pass on my knowledge to younger students.”
Chaparro looks forward to teaching this semester and learning how the campus runs from a faculty perspective.
“I’m quickly getting adjusted to the learning environment.
“Thanks to the skillsets I developed, I’ve grown more confident about helping others.”
