Foundation Installs Benches in Honor of Dreith, Galyean, and Tate
The WTC Dedicated Bench Fundraiser that began in 2019 is still receiving great support from alumni, community members, employees, and friends of the Foundation.
Three new benches were installed in mid 2022 and are already being put to good use by students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
A blue bench, donated by Rick Tate, has been dedicated in loving memory of Jimmie Nan Tate, beloved mother, mom, and ma. The shaded area outside of the Library, building 2, has a beautiful view overlooking the rose bushes for students to relax.
Another blue bench, donated by employees of Western Texas College, has been installed under a beautiful shade tree overlooking the Quanah Parker statue. The bench commemorates the life and legacy of Dr. Mike Dreith who served as the President of WTC from 2007-2012 and passed away in 2022.
A green bench, donated by employees of Western Texas College, has been installed in loving memory of Elaine Ann Gaylean. is new bench now provides a place for faculty and students to enjoy the outdoor space and fondly recall the love that Ann showered on everyone she encountered during her thirty-eight- year tenure at WTC.
A limited number of benches remain available to be dedicated to a loved one of your choosing. e proceeds from each $800 donation benefit the Westerner Fund. The Westerner Fund helps subsidize student scholarships, educational and cultural activities, and campus and facility improvement and development. All gifts to the Westerner fund are invested, and only the interest is used, ensuring that the funding lasts perpetually. Your gift creates a sustainable resource for student success at WTC.
