New Murals for Cafeteria Installed - Artist and Former WTC Art Instructor Creates New Murals of Student Life
If you’ve ever eaten in the WTC Cafeteria, then you’ve probably seen the murals on the east wall of the dining area.
The murals were created by Ben Sum, a former art instructor at Western Texas College and current professor at Angelo State University in San Angelo.
During his time at WTC, Sum created murals that captured the heart and experience of WTC. Sum based his imagery on actual students, so the paintings have a familiar and authentic feel to them.
When the cafeteria expansion was completed in 2016, the Administrative Staff approved adding additional murals in the new section.
The new murals were installed on the west wall of the expansion by Sum, his wife, Cycris Ho, and TD Industries.
