Why Give?

Students. Students are the life blood of our campus and WTC is dedicated to educational excellence as it challenges students to reach their full potential. WTC is a comprehensive public community college which provides open access and equal educational opportunity as it supports the lifelong needs of a multicultural community. As a committed member of our community, WTC strives to meet its diverse needs and open up a world of opportunity for all those we serve.

The WTC Foundation works hand in hand with WTC by enriching and supporting its mission. The Foundation does this by providing financial support and enabling student success through increased opportunities and community involvement.

The WTC Foundation has had a profound impact on the thousands of students who have passed through the doors of WTC. The scholarship program has funded hundreds of scholarships for worthy and needy students since its inception in 1977. Currently, there are over eighty endowed scholarships. These scholarships were established by dedicated individuals who believed in the power of education. For a complete list of scholarships, click here.

Only recently has the WTC Foundation broadened its scope of activities to include more endeavors than just scholarships. The Foundation provides funding for projects that would otherwise not be possible. Recent examples include a new state-of-the-art Apple computer lab for the Graphic Design Program, connecting the new soccer complex to a water supply, and new livestock panels for the Coliseum, benefiting numerous community events from stock shows to concerts.

Yours gifts to Western Texas College make a lasting contribution to the future of this college, its students, and the community we live in. We believe in a vibrant, flourishing community; Western Texas College is here to help make that possible.

TESTIMONIALS FROM STUDENTS

Jenny Medellin (Pre-Nursing, AS)

I am honored and deeply appreciative for the support I have been given. After graduation, I plan to transfer and earn my bachelor’s degree in radiology. The financial assistance you provided will be a great help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it will allow me to focus on the most important aspect of school, learning. Thanks to you I am one step closer to becoming the best radiologist I can be.

By awarding me a Foundation Scholarship, you have given me the option of a better education. I promise you I will work very hard in all my classes and prove what I am capable of. Thank you again for your generosity, it has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.
